I really do believe in fate and in serendipity and I feel like that was at work in how I got connected to Alyssa + Kieran. As a boutique fitness fanatic, I frequent places like SoulCycle, [solidcore] and Barry's Bootcamp.
On one particular occasion, I shared a sweaty selfie to my Instagram story post-Barry's, tagged the instructor (shoutout Q!) and he re-posted it. Alyssa saw that very story, was gearing up to come to DC with Kieran for the month, and inquired with me to see if I was available for an engagement session.
Alyssa is very much a down-to-earth, no bullsh** kind of gal. She wanted photos on the rooftop where they first met at The General Scott, and the surrounding area in the Scott Circle neighborhood of DC.
The day of their session, the sun was shining and the weather was gorgeous. But the second I showed up to their old place to meet them, the thunderstorms (and subsequent downpour) began.
And honestly, it could not have turned out better. We used umbrellas, classic DC architecture, little side streets, the rooftop and oddly enough, a laundry room, to capture their love.
I'm obsessed with them and can't wait to shoot their wedding at Nantahala Weddings & Events in Topton, NC in 2022.
